Grab your dancing shoes for Sackville Community Band’s Winter Cabaret on Friday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the McInnes Room, Dalhousie University (2nd Floor, Student Union Building, 6136 University Avenue). Ticket price is $20 and includes snacks, a 50-50 draw, cash bar, silent auction and an amazing door prize. Enjoy a fun evening listening to one of Nova Scotia’s premier concert bands in the casual and comfortable setting of the McInnes Room. The proceeds benefit the Sackville Band Society; this is the band’s 8th annual primary fundraiser in support of its community arts program, including providing bursaries to young musicians. New this year, you can also purchase a table for $200 (table of 10).
The repertoire features a wide variety of swing, waltz, popular and standards, including vocalists John Lindsay-Botten and Karen Robinson. Dancing is encouraged! Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Parking is available at the Dalhousie University parking garages on Seymour Street. Use the main doors off University Avenue; take stairs or elevator to 2nd floor.
Based in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, the Sackville Concert Band was formed in 2002 and is under the musical direction of Jim Forde. The ensemble performs a wide variety of classical, contemporary and popular wind band repertoire. The band comprises talented volunteers including former professional military and civilian musicians, retired and active music educators, secondary school and university students and talented amateur musicians from all walks of life.
