The Music Room Chamber Players’ Series – Sixth Season Opening
No more worrying about what to do Wednesday nights! The twenty-one concerts in The Music Room Chamber Players’ sixth series are wonderfully eclectic with tangos, tabla and harp, Jasmin Lacasse-Roy (solo guitar), Sageev Oore accompanying silent film and with percussion, clarinet and piano.
But the series also is loaded with standard repertoire: piano recitals by Walter Delahunt, Peter Allen (The Goldberg Variations) and Lucas Porter, string quartet concerts with the Blue Engine String Quartet and the Djokic Quartet, a voice recital with beloved soprano Suzie LeBlanc, violin recitals by Robert Uchida and Mark Leeand a piano trio concert with Lala Lee and friends.
All concerts take place in The Music Room (6181 Lady Hammond Road) at 7:00 pm except for the first two. The series has a curtain raiser, a free concert on Wednesday, September 20 with the Payadora Tango Ensemble, in the Paul O’Regan Hall, Halifax Central Library. The second concert takes place in the Dunn Theatre, Dalhousie Arts Centre at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 27 with the blockbuster violinist Leila Josefowicz, “accompanied by our dear friend, the pianist John Novacek,” says Chris Wilcox, Managing and Artistic Director. “She is one of the world’s greatest interpretive artists, and we are blessed with Leila’s appearance only because her mother, Wendy Harris, lives here,” he says.
This will be the first performance of this recital program before Josefowicz takes it to London, Iceland, Chicago, San Francisco and beyond. Don’t miss what will be a Halifax highlight concert this season!
A subscription to The Music Room Chamber Players Series is $300 (only $15 per ticket). Single tickets are $30, except for Leila Josefowicz’s concert, which is $100.
