The Music Room Chamber Players’ Series – Sixth Season Opening

No more worrying about what to do Wednesday nights! The twenty-one concerts in The Music Room Chamber Players’ sixth series are wonderfully eclectic with tangos, tabla and harp, Jasmin Lacasse-Roy (solo guitar), Sageev Oore accompanying silent film and with percussion, clarinet and piano.
 
But the series also is loaded with standard repertoirepiano recitals by Walter Delahunt, Peter Allen (The Goldberg Variations) and Lucas Porter, string quartet concerts with the Blue Engine String Quartet and the Djokic Quartet, a voice recital with beloved soprano Suzie LeBlanc, violin recitals by Robert Uchida and Mark Leeand a piano trio concert with Lala Lee and friends.…

Piano soloist Barbara Pritchard plays as much Canadian music as she possibly can.

“There’s a huge variety of styles, everything from traditional to experimental,” she says.

“There’s so much good Canadian music out there, that I want to do my bit.”

Togni to Stage New Opera April 1

Nova Scotia composer Peter-Anthony Togni has just completed his first opera, with libretto by Sharon Singer.  The new work, which has been underway since 2010, is now in rehearsal in Toronto, and Classic Concerts NS has a sneak peek rehearsal photo of  the Love Scene with singers Lucia Cesaroni (Isis) and Newfoundland’s Michael Barrett (Osiris).
