Free Events at Changing Tides
Some of Canada’s finest pipe organists will be heading to Halifax in early July as Changing Tides: Halifax Organ Festival presents a talented roster of musicians performing in local churches. Two free events will be presented as part of the Festival; see below for details.

Choral Evensong at St. George’s Anglican (the “Round” Church) on Tuesday, July 9 at 4:45 p.m. This performance will be sung by Saint George’s Choir, under the direction of Garth MacPhee. Music will include works by Thomas Weelkes, Wiliam Byrd, Richard Ayleward and Orlando Gibbons.
Fred Graham will lead this year’s Hymn Festival: Changing Tides, Changing Hymns 1919-2019 at First Baptist Church (1300 Oxford Street) from 8:00 until 9:30 p.m on July 9. Come out and sing some hymns old and new. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Changing Tides 2019 is presented by the Royal Canadian College of Organists Halifax Centre, and is supported by the Nova Scotia Department of Culture, Communities and Heritage, Arts Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Heritage Trust, The Godfrey Hewitt Scholarship, the Estate of Mowry M. Costigan and private donors including Dr. Piano, Létourneau, Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Science and Fountain School of Performing Arts.
